The Chic Freak label is the brainchild of Tamarisk East-Rigby, whose inspiration arose from her days working at Hyper Hyper in Kensington.
Tamarisk studied History of Art for several years, followed by Fashion Illustration at the prestigious London College of Fashion. Knowing her love lay in clothing, she quickly jumped to Costume Design for film and theatre, which allowed her to be more creative and flamboyant. Galliano was a huge inspiration for Tamarisk at this point which was apparent in her work.
Tamarisk has taken her love for colour with her, creating her own collections. Chic Freak started with their own range of 'Le Macs'; PVC macs made using PVC with lace inlays ranging from Blue, Pink, Purple, Black and White. Le Mac has been a favourite amongst many celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen, Perrie Edwards from Little Mix, Kate Nash and Shingai from the Noisettes.
Following on from the Le Mac range was Chic Freak's release of the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection, with the further development of PVC as the main material for their feminine, fun and flirty collection. Colour was, and still is, an important part of Tamarisk’s creative lust, and Chic Freak’s Autumn/Winter collection does not break away from this.
'Lido After Dark' the Spring/Summer 2015 collection was launched in Paris at the end of Septemeber. The collection has added a Chic Freak ‘Underneath’ range of tops, jackets and dresses to compliment the ‘see-through’ element of the PVC range but adding organza to the mix, a fabrics which sits within the Chic Freak ethos.
